Hi, i had my Rinnai Avenger 25 heater temperature set to 25. Suddenly it started making a loud screeching noise. What could be the reason?

Perhaps the fan bearing has failed. I suggest you contact Rinnai service.

Has anyone had any issues of ceilings and walls being stained with soot? My painter has said it's the gas heater(unfluid) causing it?

5 answers

Jurek

Soot indicates incomplete combustion.
Step 1 is to clean the filters.
Next, a service call by Rinnai.

Anne H.

Thankyou will phone first thing in the morning.

Ewan C.

This sounds dangerous, nothing like that from ours and I have had it 4 years.

Hello
I have a Rinnai Avenger 25TR gas room heater. The remote was lost some years ago. Yesterday as the top was dusted, it beeped, and we can't turn it on again. Everything is clean. Filters etc. There is writing on the small screen which clearly indicates that it has power. I think I can see a "Lock" symbol.
Can you advise how we can turn it on again?

Many thanks.

Thinking of buying a Rinnai portable gas heater - I have a townhouse with open plan living, dining and kitchen area - I am not sure whether to look at the Rinnai Avenger 25 or the Rinna Dynamo - can you help me out please.

3 answers

Jurek

You need to measure the size of the living area by volume.
The minimum sizes given in the manual are:
Avenger 25 - 62.5m3
Dynamo 15 - 37.5m3
If you are in a townhouse, chances are that the Dynamo 15 will be plenty big enough for the job

Lynne M.

Thank you - yes after doing some research the Dynamo would be more suitable.

Hi. We have a new avenger 25 and it doesn't switch off when the room temperature exceeds the set temperature. Often it can get 5 or 7 deg above the set temp and the room is too hot. Any ideas?

5 answers

Ewan C.

Does it run full power, ours continues to run but only to keep the temperature steady

Jurek

Yes, that is how it works. There is no problem with the unit.
A couple of ideas.
Firstly, forget about setting the temperature, you adapt to the room temperature yourself and if necessary, set the unit to L (low fire). It will not go lower than this.
Then you switch on/off yourself. We do it here.
The next issue may be that your unit is actually too big for the room that you are trying to heat.
The manual says 62.5m3 volume but the minimum should be a lot higher in my opinion (we have 3 units).
If your room is this sort of size the smaller unit could have been a better fit.
Sorry I could not be much more help.

Mark G

Hi. Thanks for the response. So your saying the thermostat doesn't function and the heater keeps running even when over he set temperature? If so why say it has a thermostat and why have a set temperature that can be much lower than the room temperature
Usually a heater turns down or off when the room temperature exceeds the set temperature
Thanks again but I don't think the unit is functioning correctly

Hi , I have clean my Rinnai Adenger 25 plus and still has a smelly gas, not sure what to do next??

6 answers

ViviT

Hi Alex,
With this heater it's recommended that you have it serviced. Have your gas heater serviced at least every 2 years by a qualified gasfitter. They come to your home and take your heater outside where they use their equipment to clean it. I wasn't watching to see what they actually do but it should sort out the gas smell.

Ewan C.

Are you on mains gas or bottle? When a bottle is going to empty the gas smells worse, don't know why, we experience this!

Alex G.

Thanks Vivit

Thanks Ewan
The Gas is not a bottle it's from the main gas pipe.

Pls confirm whether it is only the rinnai avenger 25 PLUS where you can set desired temp that turns off automatically when reached, or is this feature also available on the standard avenger 25? Sales assistant in store suggests you can set automatic settings so heater turns off when desired temp reached with the standard avenger 25, but the reviews here suggest otherwise.

Jurek

As far as I can tell the Avenger 25 Plus has an additional electric heater. That's it.
The heater does not turn off when the set pint is reached but does turn itself down.
So, if it is a mild day, the temperature will continue to climb above what you set.
You may wish to contact Rinnai to confirm.

Ewan C.

Yup, that's correct!

Rinnai

Rinnai A. Rinnai

Hi Dajana B,

Yes only the Avenger 25plus has the set and forget temperature control. It also has an asses electric heating element which allows for extra heat to be produced.

My heater permits a strong odour once turned on. It has been used for the past 2 winters. At the end of last winter the filter was cleaned and then the heater was stored away from dust etc. I am concerned about smell.

A strong odour tends to indicate incomplete combustion or poor quality gas (sulphur compounds are smelly).
But, I see that the Rinnai people have reached out, best to keep in touch with them.

Is there an installer at post code 3153 VIC? I bought the unit online but can't find a installer. I currently have a wall heater, which I would like to remove and install this model. Please advice.

Thank you for you response. I do have an indoor gas heating unit Vulcan, which was installed, when I bought my home. Would that qualify the "limited circumstances" clause? I can't find the definition of this term in the link, provided.

Thanks.

Rinnai

Rinnai A. Rinnai

Hi Thiru, we cannot comment on the Vulcan unit however if the property is connected to Natural Gas, then you would not be able to install the Avenger heater.

I have a Rinnai Avenger 25 purchased 12 months ago. When I turn it on the room temperature displayed is always higher than the actual temperature by 6 or 7 degrees. This morning the unit was set for 22 degrees when the actual room temp was 15. The room temp moved to "H" in a short period. Is this normal?

I contacted them this morning and was told it was "odd"?? Suggested unplug for 30 minutes. I did and the H disappeared and replaced by 27 degrees despite room temp being 20 degrees. What now. This high room temp has been a problem since I purchased the heater in May 2020. What next. This is extremely frustrating!

Hi Barry,

Thanks for the question.
One or two degrees difference is the normal range but anything larger requires a service call to test the room temperature sensor.
